How does Desmopressin 120 microgram tablets work?
Desmopressin is a synthetic analogue of the natural pituitary hormone arginine vasopressin. The difference lies in the deamination of cysteine and the replacement of L-arginine with D-arginine.
Medical uses of Minirin Melt 120 micrograms
Primary nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting) in children (from 5 years of age) and adults (up to 65 years of age).
Desmopressin is used to control the amount of urine produced by the kidneys. Normally, the amount of urine excreted is controlled by a substance in the body called vasopressin. In people with "water diabetes" (diabetes insipidus), certain types of head injuries, or brain surgery, the body doesn't produce enough vasopressin.
How to use Minirin Melt 120 micrograms

Recommended dosage:
The usual starting dose is 120 micrograms sublingually (under the tongue) at bedtime.
Doses may be changed under special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.
If you take more medicine than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital immediately.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
Side effects of Minirin Melt 120 micrograms
Although the following side effects are not common to everyone, some patients may experience:
Tightness of the throat or swelling of the eyes, face, lips or tongue, feeling faint or difficulty breathing, stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the above side effects.

Warnings and precautions while using Minirin Melt 120 micrograms
Be careful:
If you have a condition that causes fluid and/or electrolyte imbalance, such as vomiting, diarrhea, systemic infections, fever, or gastroenteritis.
If you have a medical condition that could be aggravated by fluid and/or electrolyte disturbances
If you have cystic fibrosis
If you have difficulty urinating
How to store Minirin Melt 120 micrograms
Store below 25°C.
Do not refrigerate the medicine.
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Must be stored in the original container to protect from moisture.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date printed on the carton/blister/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
