How Prednisolone 1% Eye Drops Work

  • Prednisolone is a corticosteroid used to relieve inflammation in the conjunctiva, sclera, cornea, and anterior segment of the eyeball.

Medical uses of Optipride eye drops

  • It reduces irritation, burning, redness, and swelling of eye inflammation caused by chemicals, heat, radiation, allergies, or foreign objects in the eye.

How to use Optipride eye drops

  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
  • Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
  • The recommended dose is one or two drops in the affected eye(s) 2 to 4 times a day.
  • Doses may be changed in special circumstances, so always follow the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist.
  • If you take more medicine than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital immediately.
  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose.
  • Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.

Side effects of Optipride eye drops

  • Although the following side effects are not common to everyone, some patients may experience them:
  1. headache
  2. Mild stinging and/or burning
  3. Elevated pressure in the eye (eye pressure)
  4. mild irritation
  5. redness
  6. With increased pressure inside the eye, the center of the eye becomes cloudy (cataract).

Using Optipride eye drops during pregnancy and breastfeeding

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
  • Your doctor will discuss the potential risks and benefits of using this medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Warnings and precautions while using Optipride eye drops

  • Speak to your doctor before using prednisolone eye drops if you have or have had in the past:
  1. Eye ulcers, or eye disease or treatment that caused tissue thinning
  2. You were suffering from glaucoma or being treated for high pressure inside the eye
  3. I underwent surgery to treat cataracts.
  4. Bacterial, viral, or fungal eye infections

How to store Optipride eye drops

  • Store below 25°C
  • Don't get cold
  • Once opened, the drops are safe for the eye for 28 days. After that, using the drops can cause serious eye damage as bacteria may have entered the eye.
  • Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
  • It should be stored in the original box to protect it from moisture.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton/blister/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of use.
