Drug description:

Macrogol 3350 Oral Solution Powder - 13.125 g / Sodium Chloride 0.3507 g / Sodium Bicarbonate 0.1785 g / Potassium Chloride 0.0466 g

What is macrogol/sodium chloride/sodium bicarbonate/potassium chloride and what is it used for?


This medication contains macrogols, a laxative, and electrolytes (sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, and potassium chloride). It is used to treat adults, teenagers, and the elderly who have constipation, including if you have had constipation for a long time or if you have fecal impaction (a severe bowel condition in which dry, hard stool becomes stuck in the colon or rectum).

Do not take macrogols/sodium chloride/sodium bicarbonate/potassium chloride

• If you are allergic to macrogols, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, potassium chloride, or any of the ingredients in this medicine, tell your doctor about the allergy and any signs you experience.

• If you have a blockage in your intestines.

• If you have a tear in the intestinal wall.

• If you have severe inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, or toxic megacolon).

Do not give this medicine to children under 12 years of age.


Warnings and Precautions:

• Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you experience allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, skin rash, swelling of the face or neck, low blood pressure, and dizziness. Contact your doctor if symptoms do not improve.

• Make sure to drink plenty of fluids when taking this medicine. The liquid in the medicine is not a substitute for your regular daily fluid intake.

• This medicine contains 186.87 mg of sodium per sachet (equivalent to 9.3% of the maximum recommended daily sodium intake for adults). Therefore, be sure to talk to your doctor for advice if you need to take more than 3 sachets per day for a long period of time and are following a low-sodium diet.


Possible side effects:

Possible side effects include signs or symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as rash, hives, itching, red, swollen, blistering, or peeling skin with or without fever, wheezing, tightness in the chest or throat, difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking, unusual hoarseness, or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. Common side effects include stomach pain, indigestion, flatulence, mild diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and anal soreness. These side effects usually improve when the dose you are taking is reduced.

Other medicines and macrogols/sodium chloride/sodium bicarbonate/potassium chloride

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, herbal products, vitamins, and other supplements. Be sure to tell your doctor if you are taking antiepileptic drugs (used to treat seizures).


How to take Macrogol/Sodium Chloride/Sodium Bicarbonate/Potassium Chloride:

constipation

The recommended dosage is one sachet one to three times daily, depending on the severity of your constipation. This medication should be taken for approximately two weeks. If you need to take this medication for a longer period of time, please be sure to consult your doctor first. If you are taking medications that worsen constipation or if you suffer from constipation due to a disorder such as Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis, your doctor may recommend taking this medication for longer than two weeks. If you need to take this medication for a longer period of time, please be sure to consult your doctor first. If you need to take this medication for a long period of time, your doctor may recommend reducing the dosage to one or two sachets per day.

Fecal impaction

You should confirm with your doctor that you have fecal impaction before starting this medication. The recommended dose is 8 sachets daily, taken every 6 hours for up to 3 days if necessary. Be careful not to exceed two sachets in an hour if you have a heart condition.

• Start by opening the sachet and pouring the powder contents into a cup. Then, add about 125 ml (half a liter) of water to the cup. Stir the mixture until the powder is well dissolved and the solution becomes clear or slightly cloudy. Then, drink the solution. If you have a fecal impaction, you can dissolve 8 sachets in 1 liter of water at once.

• Take your medicine at any time of the day with or without food.


How to store Macrogol/Sodium Chloride/Sodium Bicarbonate/Potassium Chloride:

• Do not store powder sachets above 25°C. If you have prepared the solution and cannot drink it immediately, make sure it is covered and stored in the refrigerator (2 to 8°C). Discard the solution after 6 hours if it has not been used.

• Keep the medicine out of reach of children and pets.

• Do not use the medicine after the expiry date shown on the carton.

• Keep the medicine in its original package to protect it from moisture and light.

• Do not dispose of the medicine in wastewater or household waste.
