Gaviscon Advance Acid Relief - Mint Flavor - 300ml

What is Gaviscon Advance used for?

• Gaviscon Acid Syrup is used to treat symptoms caused by the reflux of acid, bile and pepsin into the oesophagus such as acid regurgitation, heartburn and indigestion, for example after meals or during pregnancy, and for the symptoms of excess stomach acid (hyperacidity).
• Gaviscon Acid Syrup can also be used to treat the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease during concomitant treatment with or after withdrawal of acid suppressant therapy.

Do not take Gaviscon Advance:

• Hypersensitivity to sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, potassium carbonate, or hydroxybenzoate esters (parabens).
• Hypersensitivity to methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate.

Warnings and Precautions:

• Gaviscon antacid contains a high content of sodium. This should be taken into account in particular for those on a low-salt diet (for example, in some cases of congestive heart failure and kidney impairment).
• Use caution if you have impaired kidney function or if you are on a potassium-restricted diet.
• Caution should be exercised if you have hypercalcemia, renal calcification and recurrent calcium containing kidney stones.
• Taking this product may mask symptoms of other, more serious, underlying medical conditions.
• Contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) and propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216) which may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).

Other medicines and Gaviscon Advance:

• Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you take, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
• A two-hour interval should be observed between taking this product and taking other medicinal products, especially:
• H2 antihistamines (cimetidine, famotidine, nizatidine, and ranitidine)
• Tetracycline (doxycycline, minocycline)
• Digoxin
• Fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin)
• iron salts
• Thyroid hormones (levothyroxine)
• Ketoconazole
• Beta blockers (atenolol, metoprolol, propranolol)

How to take Gaviscon Advance:

• Adults and children over 12 years: 5-10 ml after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day.

How to store Gaviscon Advance:

• Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
• Do not store above 30°C.
• Do not snow or freeze.

*The form and method of administration of sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, potassium carbonate chewable tablet should be prescribed according to the therapeutic indication and severity of the disease in each individual patient.
