Gaviscon Advance Acid Relief - Mint Flavor - 300ml

What is Gaviscon Advance used for?

• Gaviscon antacid syrup is used to treat symptoms caused by acid, bile, and pepsin reflux into the esophagus, such as acid regurgitation, heartburn, and indigestion, for example, after meals or during pregnancy, and for symptoms of excess stomach acid (hyperacidity).
• Gaviscon antacid syrup can also be used to treat the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease during concomitant treatment with or after withdrawal of acid-suppressing therapy.

Do not take Gaviscon Advance:

• Hypersensitivity to sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, potassium carbonate or hydroxybenzoate esters (parabens).
• Hypersensitivity to methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate.

Warnings and precautions:

• Gaviscon, an antacid, contains a high amount of sodium. This should be taken into consideration especially by those on a low-salt diet (for example, in some cases of congestive heart failure and kidney impairment).
• Take care if you have impaired kidney function or if you are on a potassium-controlled diet.
• Caution should be exercised if you suffer from hypercalcemia, renal calcification, and recurrent calcium-containing kidney stones.
• Taking this product can mask the symptoms of other, more serious underlying medical conditions.
• It contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) and propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), which may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).

Other medications and Gaviscon Advance:

• Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you are taking, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements.
• A two-hour interval should be observed between taking this product and taking other medications, especially:
• H2 antihistamines (cimetidine, famotidine, nizatidine and ranitidine)
• Tetracycline (doxycycline, minocycline)
• Digoxin
• Fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin)
• Iron salts
• Thyroid hormones (levothyroxine)
• Ketoconazole
• Beta blockers (atenolol, metoprolol, propranolol)

How to take Gaviscon Advance:

• Adults and children over 12 years: 5-10 ml after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day.

How to store Gaviscon Advance:

• Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
• Do not store above 30 degrees Celsius.
• It doesn't snow or freeze.
