Ivy and Thyme Leaf Extract 100ml
What is ivy leaf and thyme extract and what is it used for?
- It is a herbal medicinal product used as an expectorant in cases of productive cough in adults, adolescents and children from the age of two.
- It loosens phlegm and relieves tiring, intermittent coughs by clearing the airways.
- This syrup also relieves shortness of breath associated with bronchitis.
- It contains thyme, which has anti-infective properties.
- A mixture of thyme and ivy leaves reduces coughing by 68.7%.
Do not take ivy leaf extract or thyme:
- If you are allergic to ivy leaves, to plants of the Araliaceae (ivy) family, or to thyme
- Children under two years of age due to the risk of worsening respiratory symptoms
Warnings and precautions:
- Tell your pharmacist:
- If children aged 2-4 years have a persistent or recurring cough
- If there is difficulty breathing, fever, or purulent phlegm (containing pus)
- If symptoms do not improve within 7 days of using the medication
- If you are taking other cough suppressants (opioid cough suppressants such as codeine or dextromethorphan).
- If you suffer from stomach problems (gastritis and stomach ulcers)
- If you suffer from kidney or liver failure
Possible side effects:

Other medicines and ivy leaf extract and thyme:
- Thyme may slow blood clotting.
- Taking thyme with medications that slow blood clotting may increase the chances of bruising and bleeding.
- Some medications that slow blood clotting include aspirin, clopidogrel, heparin, warfarin, and others.
How to take ivy leaf and thyme extract:
- For adults: The usual dose is 7.5 - 10 ml three times a day.
- For children over 6 years old: The usual dose is 5 ml three times a day.
- Each 100 ml contains 1 gram of dried thyme leaf extract and 0.7 grams of dried ivy leaf extract.
How to take ivy leaf and thyme extract:
- Use the provided measuring cup for the correct dose.
- It should be taken undiluted and regardless of meals.
- During the day you should drink plenty of water or other warm, caffeine-free beverages.
How to store ivy leaf and thyme extract:
- Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date printed on the package after "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
- Do not store above 25 degrees Celsius.
- The medical product can be used 6 weeks after opening the bottle.
- Any unused medical product or waste must be disposed of in accordance with local requirements.
