How does dorzolamide + brimonidine work?

  • It works to reduce the fluid in the eye and thus reduces eye pressure.

Medical uses of Cosopt eye drops

  • It is used to reduce high eye pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

How to use Cosopt eye drops

  • Wait at least 15 minutes after using this medication before putting in your contact lenses. Tilt your head back, look up, and pull down your lower eyelid to make a pouch. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and apply one drop, usually twice a day (12 hours apart) or as directed by your doctor.
  • Doses may be changed in special circumstances, so always follow the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist.
  • If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital immediately.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose.
  • Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.

Side effects of Cosopt eye drops

  • Although the following side effects are not common to everyone, some patients may experience:
  • Temporary blurred vision, temporary burning/stinging/itching/redness of the eye, watery eyes, dry eyes, dry mouth, feeling as if something is in the eye, headache, dizziness, or drowsiness may occur.
  • If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding precautions while taking Cosopt eye drops

  • This medicine should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks.
  • Breastfeeding: It is not known if it passes into breast milk.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
  • Your doctor will discuss the potential risks and benefits of using this medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Warnings and precautions when taking Cosopt eye drops

  • It is very important that your eye doctor checks your progress at regular visits to ensure that the medication is working properly and is not causing unwanted effects.
  • If itching, redness, swelling, or any other signs of eye or eyelid irritation occur, consult your doctor.
  • If you or your child has an eye injury or infection, or needs eye surgery, talk to your doctor right away.
  • You may need to change or stop using your medication.
  • This medicine may cause some people to feel dizzy, drowsy, tired, or less alert than they are normally.
  • Do not drive or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how this medicine affects you.
  • This medicine may increase the effects of alcohol and other central nervous system depressants (medicines that make you sleepy or less alert).
  • Some examples of CNS depressants are antihistamines, allergy medications, sedatives, sleeping medications, prescription pain medications, narcotics, seizure medications, barbiturates, muscle relaxants, or anesthetics, including some dental anesthetics.
  • Consult your doctor before taking any of the above while using this medicine.
  • It may cause your eyes to become more sensitive to light than they are normally.
  • Wearing sunglasses and avoiding excessive exposure to bright light may help reduce discomfort.

Storage conditions for Cosopt eye drops

  • Store below 25°C.
  • Do not refrigerate.
  • Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Must be stored in the original container to protect from moisture.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date shown on the carton/label.
  • The expiration date refers to the last day of the month.
