This medication is used to help reduce the redness and itching of certain skin problems. These skin problems include eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, lichen simplex chronicus, pruritus nodularis, or insect bites, where infection may be a problem.
Eczema (a common skin disorder that causes itchy, red skin).
Seborrheic dermatitis (a chronic skin condition that causes itchy, swollen, and cracked skin in round or oval patches)
Psoriasis (thick patches of red, inflamed skin, usually covered with silvery scales), excluding diffuse plaque psoriasis.
Lichen planus (flat, itchy, red to purple bumps on the forearms, lower legs, or wrists).
An allergic skin reaction (such as contact dermatitis) caused by a substance or allergen that comes into contact with your skin.
Otitis externa (inflamed, flaky, red skin of the outer ear and ear canal).
Skin reactions due to insect bites.
Seborrheic dermatitis (a scaly, red, itchy rash on the scalp, chest, back, and face).
Prickly heat (a rash caused by trapped sweat in the skin).
Genital and anal folds (a rash that usually affects the skin folds of the vagina or penis due to skin-to-skin friction and moisture).
Pruritus nodularis (formation of hard, itchy bumps on the skin).
Lichen simplex chronicus (patches of itchy skin caused by scratching).
