  • Vertigo (dizziness associated with vomiting or nausea), tinnitus (hearing sounds in the absence of external sounds, such as ringing in the ears), and hearing loss or impaired hearing ability.
  • It is also used to relieve the symptoms of vestibular vertigo (dizziness even when you are not moving).

Do not take betahistine dihydrochloride:

  • If you are allergic to betahistine dihydrochloride, or any of the ingredients in this medicine, tell your doctor about the allergy and any symptoms you experience.

Warnings and precautions:

  • Stop taking the medicine immediately and talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you experience allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, skin rash, swelling of the face or neck, low blood pressure, and dizziness.
  • Talk to your doctor if your symptoms get worse or do not improve after a few weeks.
  • Speak to your doctor before starting this medication if you have bronchial asthma (a respiratory disease that causes respiratory problems such as shortness of breath and wheezing).
  • Or if you have previously suffered from a stomach ulcer. Your doctor will monitor you closely if you have bronchial asthma or a history of stomach ulcers.
  • Do not repeat the same prescription without consulting your doctor first.

Possible side effects:

  • Gastrointestinal side effects (such as abdominal pain, bloating, and vomiting)
  • Allergic reactions of the skin or subcutaneous tissue (such as hives; itching; rash; sudden swelling of the neck, face or limbs).

Other medications and betahistine dihydrochloride:

  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, herbs, vitamins, and supplements.
  • Tell your doctor before starting this medication if you are taking antihistamines (mainly used for allergies, nausea, and to help you sleep).

How to take betahistine dihydrochloride:

Adults and the elderly

  • The recommended total daily dose is between 24 and 48 mg divided into multiple doses given throughout the day.
  • If you are using 8 mg of betahistine dihydrochloride: Take 1-2 tablets orally three times a day.
  • If you are using 16 mg betahistine dihydrochloride: Take ½ - 1 tablet orally three times a day.
  • If you are using 24 mg betahistine dihydrochloride: the total daily dose is 48 mg divided throughout the day. Your doctor will adjust your dosage regimen if necessary, depending on how you respond to the medication.

Children (under 18 years old)

  • This medicine is not recommended for use in children due to a lack of evidence of effectiveness and safety.
