What is acetylcysteine 600 mg effervescent tablets and what is it used for?

Acetylcysteine is used to treat bronchial diseases such as bronchitis (inflammation of the mucous membrane of the bronchi), emphysema, cystic fibrosis, and bronchiectasis (chronic widening of the airway).

Do not use acetylcysteine 600 mg effervescent tablets

• If you are allergic to acetylcysteine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• Children under the age of two should not use this medicine.

Precautions and warnings

• If you suffer from bronchial asthma, you should not take this medicine.
• If you have or have suffered from a peptic ulcer, Acetylcysteine 600 mg effervescent tablets may irritate the stomach wall.

Possible side effects

• If any of the following side effects occur, immediately stop using Acetylcysteine 600 mg effervescent tablets and contact your doctor or go to the emergency room of a nearby hospital.
• Shock (sharp drop in blood pressure, pallor, restlessness, weak pulse, clammy skin, decreased consciousness) due to a sudden widening of blood vessels as a result of severe hypersensitivity to certain components (anaphylactic shock).
• Sudden accumulation of fluid in the skin and mucous membranes (such as the throat or tongue), breathing difficulties and/or itching and rash, often as a result of an allergic reaction (angioedema).

Other medications and acetylcysteine 600 mg effervescent tablets

• If you are using other medications, do not dissolve them with Acetylcysteine 600 mg effervescent tablets.
• If you need to use medication to control or prevent infection (antibiotics), we advise you to take it two hours before or after taking Acetylcysteine 600 mg effervescent tablets.
• Cough suppressants should not be used at the same time as acetylcysteine 600 mg effervescent tablets, as you should be able to cough up loose phlegm.

How to use Acetylcysteine 600 mg effervescent tablets

• 1 effervescent tablet once a day.
• Dissolve the effervescent tablet in half a cup of water. Drink the solution immediately.

How to store acetylcysteine 600 mg effervescent tablets

• Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
• Store in the original packaging to protect from moisture.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date, which is indicated on the package after "Do not use after" or "exp". The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
• After first opening the package, the product can be used for a maximum of 10 days in the tube with 10 effervescent tablets or 20 days in the tube with 20 effervescent tablets.
• Do not dispose of any medications via wastewater or household waste.
