Indapamide 1.5 mg prolonged-release tablets*

What are the uses of indapamide?

  • Indapamide can be used to treat high blood pressure. It can be used alone or in combination with other high blood pressure medications.
  • Most diuretics increase the amount of urine excreted by the kidneys. However, indapamide differs from other diuretics in that it causes only a slight increase in the amount of urine produced. In addition, indapamide dilates blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily. This helps lower blood pressure.

Do not take indapamide.

  • If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to indapamide or any other sulfonamide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
  • If you have severe kidney disease
  • If you have severe liver disease or a condition called hepatic encephalopathy (liver problems affecting the brain and central nervous system)
  • If you have low levels of potassium in your blood (hypokalemia)
