Scientific name
Dematoprost
Lumigan belongs to
Eye drops for glaucoma
How does Dematoprost work?
Stimulates the flow of eye fluid during the day (13%) and at night (14%).
Its hypotensive effect is primarily due to a 26% reduction in the resistance to ocular outflow.
Thus, it enhances the pressure-sensitive outflow path.
Medical uses of Lumigan
Lumigan is used to reduce high eye pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
How to use Lumigan
The dosage is one drop in the affected eye once daily in the evening.
It should not be given more than once daily because it has been shown that repeated use of prostaglandin analogues may reduce the intraocular pressure-lowering effect.
Doses may be changed under special circumstances, so always follow the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist.
If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital immediately.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
