Picoprep orange flavor sachets are used to clear and cleanse the bowel contents before a doctor's examination or surgery.
Allow your doctor to see inside easily.
It is sometimes used to cleanse the colon before special x-rays of the kidneys.
It does this by working in the intestines and colon causing watery stools or bowel movements that remove the contents of the intestines.
However, your doctor may prescribe Picoprep for another purpose.
Ask your doctor if you have any questions about why Picoprep has been prescribed for you or how to take it.
Directions for use:
Do not take this medicine without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.
Follow all instructions given to you by your doctor carefully.
Prepare the solution:
Slowly add the contents of one Picoprep sachet to a large glass of cold water (approximately 250 ml). Stir gently.
Your doctor may change the timing of the bags and the time without food or drink before the exam.
Adults and children over 9 years of age should only take Picoprep.
Preparing the two bags:
No solid foods, dairy products, or alcoholic beverages are allowed.
On the day before the examination, drink only approved clear liquids.
Starting the day before the test (approximately 3 pm), dissolve the entire contents of one sachet of Picoprecipe in a glass (250 ml) of warm water.
If preferred, chill in the refrigerator before drinking. Drink the contents of the cup followed by a glass of water.
Continue drinking clear, approved fluids, at least a cup per hour the better, to ensure adequate hydration.
In the evening of the same day (around 9 pm), repeat the above with another sachet of Picoprep, i.e. dissolve in a glass of warm water, cool if you prefer, then drink the contents followed by a glass of water.
Continue drinking approved clear fluids, at least one cup per hour until six (6) hours prior to the examination.
You should not eat or drink anything for six (6) hours prior to the examination.

This preparation usually results in frequent, loose bowel movements within two to three hours of taking the first dose.
You should stay close to toilet facilities and do not plan any other activities until after the examination.
It is very important that you drink enough fluids to avoid dehydration.
Drink approved clear fluids, at least 250 ml every hour, up to 6 hours before the exam.
