Product Description:
- 875 mg amoxicillin and 125 mg clavulanic acid.
- To reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of (amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium) and other antibacterial medicines
- It should only be used to treat infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria.
A combination antibacterial of the penicillin class and a beta-lactamase inhibitor indicated in the treatment of infections due to susceptible isolates of certain bacteria in the conditions listed below:
- Lower respiratory tract infections.
- Acute bacterial otitis media.
- Skin and skin structure infections.
- Urinary tract infections.
Directions for use:
- It can be taken without regard to meals; however, absorption of clavulanate potassium is enhanced when this antibiotic is given at the beginning of a meal.
- To reduce the possibility of gastrointestinal intolerance, AUGMENTIN should be taken at the beginning of a meal.
- It may work better if you take it at the beginning of a meal.
- Take the medicine every 12 hours.
- Do not crush or chew an extended-release tablet. Swallow the tablet whole, or break the tablet in half and take both halves one at a time.
Warnings and Precautions:
- You should not use Augmentin if you have severe kidney disease.
- If you have liver problems or jaundice while taking amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium.
- If you are allergic to any penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics.
- This medicine is contraindicated in patients with a history of cholestatic jaundice associated with amoxicillin-clavulanate or hepatic dysfunction.
- Serious and occasionally fatal hypersensitivity reactions have been reported.
- The medication should be discontinued immediately if a rash or other signs of hypersensitivity appear.
