Why is furosemide used?
Furosemide is used to treat excess fluid in the body caused by heart, kidney, liver, or blood vessel problems. It is also used to treat high blood pressure.
Do not take furosemide.
• If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• If you are allergic to sulfonamides or sulfonylureas such as sulfadiazine and co-trimoxazole.
• If you suffer from kidney failure.
• If you have serious liver problems.
• If you suffer from low blood pressure.
• If you are dehydrated.
• If you are unable to urinate.
• If you have low levels of sodium or potassium in your blood.
• If you have Addison's disease.
• If you are taking other medications that affect potassium levels in your blood.
Warnings and precautions
Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including if you have:
• If you have liver or kidney problems.
• If you have heart problems.
• If you have diabetes.
• If you have low levels of protein in your blood.
• If you suffer from prostate problems.
• If you suffer from gout.
• If you have systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
Possible side effects
Stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop a rash; itching; red, blistered, or peeling skin; tightness in the chest or throat; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. The frequency with which these side effects occur is not known.

• Ethacrynic
• Lithium
• Sucralfate
• Digoxin
• Corticosteroids
How to take furosemide
• Take this medicine as directed by your doctor.
• Take this medicine with a glass of water.
• It is preferable to take the drug in the morning.
• The usual recommended dose is one or two tablets once daily.
How to store furosemide
• Store at room temperature 68 to 77°F (20 to 25°C).
• Store away from sunlight.
• Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date shown on the carton.
*The form and method of administration of Furosemide 40 mg tablets and 10 mg/ml solution for injection or infusion should be determined according to the therapeutic indication and severity of the disease for each individual patient.
