Product description:
- 875 mg amoxicillin and 125 mg clavulanic acid.
- To reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of (amoxicillin/potassium clavulanate) and other antibacterial drugs
- It should only be used to treat infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria.
A combination of a penicillin-class antibacterial and a beta-lactamase inhibitor indicated for the treatment of infections due to susceptible isolates of certain bacteria under the conditions listed below:
- Lower respiratory tract infections.
- Acute bacterial otitis media.
- Skin and skin structure infections.
- Urinary tract infections.
Usage guidelines:
- It can be taken without regard to meals; however, the absorption of potassium clavulanate is enhanced when this antibiotic is given at the start of a meal.
- To reduce the likelihood of gastrointestinal intolerance, AUGMENTIN should be taken at the beginning of a meal.
- It may work better if you take it at the beginning of the meal.
- Take the medicine every 12 hours.
- Do not crush or chew an extended-release tablet. Swallow the tablet whole, or break the tablet in half and take both halves one at a time.
Warnings and precautions:
- You should not use Augmentin if you have severe kidney disease.
- If you experience liver problems or jaundice while taking amoxicillin and potassium clavulanate.
- If you are allergic to any of the penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics.
- This drug is contraindicated in patients with a previous history of amoxicillin-clavulanate-associated cholestatic jaundice or hepatic impairment.
- Serious and sometimes fatal hypersensitivity reactions have been reported.
- The medication should be stopped immediately if a skin rash or other signs of hypersensitivity appear.
