Twynsta is used to treat essential hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults (aged 18 years or older). "Essential" means that the high blood pressure has no known cause.
Twynsta is used in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by amlodipine alone.
Twynsta can also be used instead of telmisartan and amlodipine therapy in patients taking both drugs as separate tablets.
The drug can only be obtained with a prescription.
Usage instructions :
Twynsta is taken orally as one tablet once a day and is used for long-term treatment.
The maximum dose is one tablet of the highest strength (80/10 mg) once a day.
Warnings and precautions:
Twynsta should not be used in people who may be sensitive (allergic) to telmisartan, amlodipine, or other drugs in the "dihydropyridine derivatives" class or to any of the other ingredients.
It should not be used in pregnant women for more than three months.
Twynsta should not be used in patients with severe liver or biliary problems, shock (severe drop in blood pressure), blockage of blood flow from the left side of the heart, or in patients with heart failure following a myocardial infarction (heart attack).
Twynsta should also not be used with aliskiren-containing drugs (which are also used to treat essential hypertension) in patients with type 2 diabetes or patients with moderate or severe kidney impairment.
