What is aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide suspension and what is it used for?

This medicine contains two different medicines:

• They are called aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide.
• They belong to a group of medicines called antacids.

Aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide is used in:

• Heartburn or when your stomach has too much acid (indigestion)
• Gastritis (inflammation of the stomach), and it may also be used to reduce the amount of acid in your stomach or intestines (bowels) when you have an ulcer.
• Aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide works by reducing the amount of acid in your stomach.

What you need to know before taking aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide suspension:

• Do not take aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide if you are allergic to aluminum hydroxide or magnesium hydroxide.
• Or signs of an allergic reaction include: rash, problems swallowing or breathing, swelling
• From your lips, face, throat, or tongue.
• You feel very weak and have no energy (exhausted).
• You have kidney problems. Long-term exposure to high doses of aluminum/magnesium hydroxide.

• Some medications used to treat infections, such as tetracycline, ciprofloxacin, and rifampicin
• Ketoconazole
• Malaria drugs such as chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine
• Chlorpromazine - used for mental illness (psychosis).
• vitamins
• Polystyrene sulfonate - used to treat high levels of potassium in the blood
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if:

• You are pregnant, may become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant. You should not take
• Aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide suspension during the first 3 months of

How to take aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide suspension:

• You experience a red, bumpy rash, swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, mouth, or tongue, itching, and difficulty breathing or swallowing. This could be an allergic reaction.
